Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA

Meg Holland, a native of Bethlehem, is the principal of Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA. Prior to establishing her own accounting practice in 1982, she was a senior auditor for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for three years and a tax accountant and auditor for Price Waterhouse & Co. in New York City for four years.

In addition to being a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania and New York, she is also Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), was among the nation’s first Certified Valuation Analysts (CVA) and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). She has formed a strategic alliance with various investment advisors after completing the series 6, 63, and life and health insurance licenses.

In November of 2007, Ms. Holland became the first woman elected the City of Bethlehem Controller.  Ms. Holland has served as an adjunct instructor in accounting at Lehigh University and DeSales University and has conducted seminars on small business accounting, litigation support and business valuations.

Over the past thirty years Meg Holland has held very important positions within the business community.  She was the initial state chairperson of the Committee for Women and Family Issues, and a state council member for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), President of the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), President of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of PICPA, and President of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

Ms. Holland also volunteers within her local community.  She is on the Committee for Institutional Advancement for the Historic Bethlehem Partnership and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital.  She has also been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 1982 and is a member of Bethlehem Rotary.

Ms. Holland graduated from Penn State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting.

Maureen Thomson, AVA (Accredited Valuation Analyst), CFFA* (Certified Forensic Financial Analyst Candidate) joined Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA,  in 2005 as a financial analyst and forensic accountant.  In 2006, Ms. Thomson became the youngest in the United States to ever obtain the AVA and to pass the CFFA* examination (she will obtain the certification when she completes the reguired expert testimony).  Ms. Thomson has particular expertise in the application of business valuation principles and economic theory in various disciplines including: buy/sell agreements, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, divorce litigation, economic loss, estate gifting/planning, forensic financial analysis, fraud detection and analysis, shareholder disputes, etc.

Prior to joining Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA, Ms. Thomson was an analyst for LECG, LLC, one of the largest international consulting and business valuation firms in the world, in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE. 

Ms. Thomson graduated from the University of Delaware in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in economics.  Ms. Thomson is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at DeSales University.

Kathleen Schaeffer joined Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA, in 2001 as an office administrator, accountant, financial planner and tax preparer.  Ms. Schaeffer is series 7, 66, and life and health insurance licensed.  Ms. Schaeffer is also employed by East Penn Financial Group (a division of Metlife) as a financial advisor.  Currently, at Meg Holland & Associates, PC, CPA, Ms. Schaeffer is responsible for all accounts receivable and collection duties and tax preparation.  Ms. Schaeffer graduated from DeSales University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance.
